For Immediate Release

The Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University received a significant number of applications for 2020. The university only had limited space of about 1000 new students in all its five schools. Late applications were not accommodated this year due to the fact that the quota for all the courses was full.

For that reason, SMU would like to distance itself from fake news doing the rounds that it is still taking up applications for the academic year 2020.

The public is hereby warned not to fall into this scam by unscrupulous individuals or syndicates who would perhaps want to make money or have access to unsuspecting and vulnerable people’s important information and details.

“I appeal to everyone to be vigilant during this time of the year as dishonest people know that prospective students are desperate to get space in institutions of higher learning due to the high demand and would come up with all sorts of ways to scam them. Our call for applications and closing dates are always communicated on time through our legitimate official university platforms and people should log in on our Website as well as Facebook and Twitter pages for more information about our activities”, says SMU Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Ayo-Yusuf.

The university will hold its orientation week for all its first entering students from 27-29 January 2020.
