Trevor Mashabela, a top achiever (2019 matric class) from Limpopo received by SMU Acting VC Prof Ayo-Yusuf and Prof Eunice Seekoe

The Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University’s Orientation Week commences on 27-29 January 2020. About 1000 students are expected to attend the sessions over a period of three days. These students who have chosen to study at SMU across the five existing schools within the university will be received by the Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Ayo-Yusuf and other leaders of SMU.

“At SMU we have great academics that are respected in their various fields of expertise. These dedicated men and women will help the students through their journey as they develop to be full professionals that will make a meaningful contribution in addressing the health and other needs of the country. I also want to assure the new students that we have strong support systems and structures in place to help them navigate the terrain of the University”, says Prof Ayo-Yusuf.

SMU offers a variety of qualifications in the following five schools: Medicine; Science and Technology; Health Care Sciences; Oral Health as well as Pharmacy.

The University is also pleased to announce that one of the top achievers from the matric class of 2019 has opted to study at SMU. Trevor Mashabela from Limpopo has successfully enrolled for the MBCHB degree and has expressed his excitement to join the University. He has obtained distinctions in all his subjects.

SMU has received a record student application of 30 000 and could only accommodate about 1000 new entrants and this is a clear indication that more and more students have interest to study at this fledging University.
