Dr Penny Moumakwa is a qualified medical practitioner. Amongst other qualifications, she holds an MBChB from the erstwhile Medical University of Southern Africa (Medunsa), which she obtained in 1987, a Management Advancement Programme from Wits Business School, and a General Management Programme from Harvard Business School. This reflects her lifelong commitment to education and personal growth.

Dr. Moumakwa has extensive experience in, amongst others, board governance, strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and organizational transformation, both in the private and public sector.

She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mohau Equity Partners (MEP), which has been operational since 2018. MEP is an investment holding company and a strategic investor with more than 51% women equity. Dr Moumakwa has also served in various executive leadership roles including being the General Practitioner from 1992 to 1995; Chief Executive Officer of Transmed Medical Fund from 1996 to 2000; Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Healthcare Funders from 2002 to 2005; Director: Keycare Product Development at Discovery Limited from 2005 to 2011; and Group Head of Human Resources and Sustainability at Discovery Limited from 2011 to 2018.

In addition to the above, Dr Moumakwa has also served and continues to serve in boards of various institutions, which include Growthpoint Healthcare; RCL Foods; Wits Donald Gordon Hospital; Witkoppen Health & Welfare Centre 2016; Discovery Health Pty; and Clicks Group Ltd.
