Prof Lesiba Baloyi (PhD) is a registered clinical psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South African (HPCSA) and the Board of Health Funders (BHF). He currently holds a joint appointment position as the Head of the Department and Chief Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital (DGMAH) & Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) in Pretoria, South Africa. Prof Baloyi has more than 22 years of experience in teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students at university. He has acted as an external examiner for more than 70 Masters dissertations and several PhD theses for various South African universities. Prof Baloyi has published articles, conference proceedings and book chapters, and presented papers at many national and international conferences. He is one of the founding members and former President of the Forum of African Psychology (FAP), (2014 – 2017). Prof Baloyi is currently a Board member of the Alternation journal (2018-2023). |
| Teaching Responsibilities and research interests
Prof Baloyi interests include teaching and supervising Masters and Doctoral students in the following areas: Indigenous knowledge systems, more specifically African epistemology and “psychology”, political psychology, indigenous research methodologies, colonial and postcolonial psychology, decolonial thought, in particular decolonising the psychology curriculum to reflect the teaching of tsa semoya. The psychology of cultural identities, practices and beliefs, ubuntu philosophy and its applicability in different contexts, African modalities of healing/psychotherapy and community psychology, curriculum transformation, critical psychology, race and power discourses as well as postmodern thinking and its application in the training of clinical psychologists. He also teaches African “psychology” and its relevance in the medical context to MBChB III and a Selective module on Ubuntu and its applicability in the medical context to MBChB IV |

Prof Annalie Pistorius has 40 years of experience as a practising psychologist. Her work experience covers psychiatric hospital, organisational, university and community contexts.

Prof Pistorius offers post-modern psychotherapies, group psychotherapies, short-term dynamic therapies, research and clinical supervision, and curriculum development in the MSc Clinical Psychology course.
Lecturing
She presents psychotherapeutic interventions and theories in the MMed Psychiatry course.
Guest lecturing on psychological concerns across disciplines includes the management of bereavement for the Masters in Clinical Pharmacology students.
Undergraduate classes in applied psychology include substance use and addictionology, gender-based violence prevention, and motivational interviewing training.

Dr Mia Kritzinger obtained her Master’s degree in clinical psychology at the University of North West (Potchefstroom campus). She completed her internship in clinical psychology in Johannesburg, after which she worked at the Psychiatric Midlands Hospital Complex in Pietermaritzburg for 8 years. She was also jointly appointed at the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine in Durban.
She currently occupies a joint appointment at Dr. George Mukhari Academic Hopsital and Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. Her qualitative PhD research thesis was focused on suicidal behaviour among adolescents at a Gauteng public hospital.

Dr Mirriam Kganya is a practising Clinical Psychologist and currently occupies a position of senior Clinical Psychologist (Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital) and lecturer in Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. Post internship and community service, she started practicing independently since 2008. Dr Kganya further obtained supporting qualifications in Supervisory Development Programme from Durban University of Technology (DUT) and Human Resources Management from UNISA.
Dr Kganya is the current MSc Clinical Psychology programme coordinator in Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU).

Dr Antonio G Lentoor is a senior lecturer and clinical psychologist in the Department of Clinical Psychology who focuses on inter-disciplinary research. His current research revolves around the neuroscience of HIV, cancer and obesity. He is especially interested in understanding the key neuro, psychological and social pathways intersecting these medical conditions. Dr Lentoor is interested in supervising research in the following areas:
· Neuro-oncology (i.e. cancer-related cognitive function (chemo-brain), psychosocial adjustment of cancer patients ) · Neuroimmunometabolic research (i.e. cognitive, stress, psychosocial aspects of obesity) · Pediatrics/Traumatic Brain Injury · HIV infection and cognitive effects (impact on adherence, risk behaviour, psychosocial functioning) children and adults · General Psychopathology/Psychiatric Research (i.e. autism, parasuicide, addiction, etc.) Dr Lentoor is a recipient of the 2020 Biological Psychiatry Early-and Mid-Career Research Development Award. Mrs Mosima Marole is a registered Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Sefako Makgatho Health Science University (SMU). She is a registered Clinical Psychologist with Health Profession Council of South Africa (HPCSA). She is lecturing and training postgraduate and undergraduate students. She manages the Clinical Psychology Psychometric test Library and is further involved in the development of the Psychometric Test Library to be in line with the 4th industrial revolution by embarking of the process of digitizing the test material, which will transform how students and staff members gain access to the test library through state-of-the-art software programmes. She is further involved in the Masters in Clinical Psychology student therapy programme. This is an initiative to assist in placing disadvantaged students in need of therapeutic interventions through pro-bono services. Her clinical and research interest are focused on neuropsychology, neuropsychological assessments, psychometric assessments and medical psychology, with a great focus on cervical cancer. Ms Marole is affiliated with the Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA); Neuropsychology SA and South African Neuropsychology Association (SACNA). She is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner (CIME) and holds a certificate of training from the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME). |

Ms Maryke Pierce Completed her MSocSc degree in Clinical Psychology from the NWU in 2006. In 2007 she completed her Internship with Weskoppies Hospital and in 2008 she joined the Clinical Psychology Unit at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital. She currently coordinates the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences Unit at Weskoppies Hospital and supervises Interns clinical cases. She also lectures Systems Theory and Therapy as well the Interactional Pattern Analysis at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences to 1st Year Clinical Psychology Masters students. Ms Pierce also lectures MBChB 3 as well as MMed in Psychiatry. She is currently busy with her PhD on The Environmental Impact on employee wellness and morale within a forensic ward in Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital.

Ms. Kgadi Thobejane is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) since 2001. She is a lecturer at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) in the department of Clinical Psychology since 2003 to date. Prior to that, she was employed by the Department of Health at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital (then GA Rankuwa Hospital) as a Senior Clinical Psychologist. Ms Thobejane’s expertise include teaching undergraduate medical, dental students and training of both post graduate MSc Clinical Psychology and Master of Medicine (MMED) Psychiatry students. Since joining SMU, she supervised postgraduate students’ research projects and clinical casework. She has previously served in the SMU’s Research and Ethics Committee (SREC), and the Academic planning and curriculum development committee (APCDC III) in the third year level.
