ABOUT IMPORTANT DATES

We trust that you will have a hassle-free registration process with SMU in 2023.

Below, for your ease of reference follows important dates to be borne in mind for the University in January and February 2023:

2023 Registration Important Dates

05 January 2023

• University re-opens: academic and support staff report for duty
• Continuation of outstanding 2022 academic and administrative activities

09 January 2023

• Registration commences for all returning (undergraduate & Postgraduate) students.

16 January 2023

• Commencement of the 2023 academic year for returning students:
• Lectures, clinical sessions, practicum sessions commence for registered returning students

20 January 2023

• Last Day: Registration ends for all returning (undergraduate & Postgraduate) students.

30 January 2023

• Special examinations for eligible Science and Technology students commence from 30 January 2023 to 10 February 2023. The special examinations were approved by the Executive Committee of the Senate.

10 February 2023

Closing date for:
Late registration for all undergraduate and postgraduate students
Changing of courses and/or modules

17 February 2023

• First meeting of the Joint Council and Senate Academic Exclusions Appeals Committee (JCSAEAC) refer to a detailed 2023 calendar for more information on the other meeting dates for JCSAEAC.
