REGISTRATION OF FIRST TIME ENTRING STUDENTS (FTENS)
Kindly take note of the information and timelines below in connection with final selections, admissions, payment of fees, registrations and student orientation.
1.) Final Selection, Admission and Registration
- The University received more applications than the number of available places and meeting admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the University.
- Final selections for FTENS will take place from the 14th to the 16th of January 2026 after the release of the 2025 Grade 12 results on 13 January 2026.
- After selections are made by the School Selection Committees, all applicants will be informed about the outcome of their applications through sms/email.
- Applicants who have already passed Grade 12 (including internal and external transfers) will receive the outcome of the applications separately through sms/email.
- Applicants can also check the status of their applications on the SMU website (using self-help portal) after the release of Grade 12 examination results.
- Admitted applicants will be given three (3) days to accept or decline their study offers online, using their own laptops or smart phones. If you do not respond within the given time, your place will be allocated to another applicant because there are limited places.
- Admitted applicants will receive admission letters with information about registration. They should register within three (3) days after accepting their study offers, otherwise their places will be allocated to other applicants.
2.) Payment of fees
- Self-funded students are expected to pay an initial and mandatory minimum fee of R4 500 before they are allowed to register.
- Funded students are required to provide proof of funding by their funders before they are allowed to register.
