Admission Requirements
Duration
- All the Postgraduate Diplomas run over the duration of one (01) Year Full Time.
- The Students who are employed will need to be granted a Full Time Study Leave.
- The Clinical Component will be performed in the Clinical Facilities
Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management
To be admitted to the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management, the prospective leaner should meet the following requirements:
The learner must already be registered as Professional Nurse and Midwives, or a General Nurse with a Midwifery Qualification acquired in either of the programmes below.
- 2-year Diploma (Bridging course) leading to registration as General or Psychiatric Nurse offered under Regulation 683 of 14 April 1989 as amended, followed by 1-year Diploma in Midwifery offered under Regulation 254 of 14 February 1975 as amended.
or - 4-year Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery offered under Regulation 425 of 22 February 1985 as amended.
or - 4-year Bachelor’s Degree offered under Regulation R425 of 22 February 1985 as amended.
or - Diploma in General Nursing offered under regulation R.171 and an Advance Diploma in Midwifery under regulation R.1497
or - 4-year bachelor’s degree in nursing and midwifery under regulation R.174.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience (inclusive of community service) after registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse, General Nurse and Midwife
Approval from the employer to register for the programme. IF EMPLOYED
DURATION OF THE COURSE
1 year full time
Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing
To be admitted to the Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing, the prospective leaner should meet the following requirements:
The learner must already be registered as Professional Nurse and Midwives, or a General Nurse with a Midwifery Qualification acquired in either of the programmes below.
- 2-year Diploma (Bridging course) leading to registration as General or Psychiatric Nurse offered under Regulation 683 of 14 April 1989 as amended, followed by 1-year Diploma in Midwifery offered under Regulation 254 of 14 February 1975 as amended.
or - 4-year Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery offered under Regulation 425 of 22 February 1985 as amended.
or - 4-year Bachelor’s Degree offered under Regulation R425 of 22 February 1985 as amended.
or - Diploma in General Nursing offered under regulation R.171 and an Advance Diploma in Midwifery under regulation R.1497
or - 4-year bachelor’s degree in nursing and midwifery under regulation R.174.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience (inclusive of community service) after registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse, General Nurse and Midwife

Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery
To be admitted to the Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery, the prospective leaner should meet the following requirements:
The learner must already be registered as Professional Nurse and Midwives, or a General Nurse with a Midwifery Qualification acquired in either of the programmes below.

The two (2) years of working experience as a professional nurse must be in the midwifery field.
A proof of employment specifying years of experience in midwifery field
Approval from the employer to register for the programme.
Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education
To be admitted to the Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education, the prospective leaner should meet the following requirements:
The learner must already be registered as Professional Nurse and Midwives, or a General Nurse with a Midwifery Qualification acquired in either of the programmes below.
